Kinetic-scale Flux Ropes: Observations and Applications of Kinetic Equilibrium Models

Magnetic flux ropes with helical field lines and strong core are ubiquitous structures in space plasmas. Recently, kinetic-scale have been identified by high-resolution observations from Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS) spacecraft the magnetosheath, which drawn a lot of attention because their non-ideal behavior internal structures. Detailed investigation rope structure dynamics requires development realistic kinetic models. In this paper, we generalize an equilibrium model to reconstruct previously reported via MMS observations. The key features magnetic electron pitch-angle distribution measurements all four satellites simultaneously reproduced reconstruction. Besides validating model, our results also indicate that anisotropic attributed asymmetric topologies magnetosheath can be alternatively explained motion rest frame.
